I have this sound issue on my HP Pavilion DV2007EA (with AMD turion & nVidia+conexant etc.).. Soundproblem dissappeared after kernel upgrade on Feisty (I'm using now 2.6.20-16-generic kernel), and everything was working great, BUT now sound is gone again. I have to start computer with batterypower only to get sound working. I can plug charger in right after hearing sound in login screen and sound is working.
One other thing is allso, that after this sound issue came back, multimediakeys at latop aren't working anymore. Or actually those are working, I can see how volume level changes in "volume screen which pops up" and when pressing mute it shows mute on that "screen". Only problem is that volume isn't changing actually at all, and mute isn't going on or off (doesn't chance in up panel eather). PS.
