Note that my machine have 2 disks, the first one with the SO (win + linux) on 
parallel ata and the second one on sata for data storage.

Maybe the problem is the same of bug you reported.

If helps I updated also a thinkpad t42 laptop and the update worked fine
there. But I have noticed that the HDD (parallel) is now on /dev/hda
instead /dev/sda like before.
