Hello, my aspire timelinex 5830tg uses Conexant ID 506c and I can report a similar problem.
The headphones work perfectly but I cannot hear any sound from the loud speakers except when I plug/unplug the laptop power adapter. In this case, the sound switches from the headphones to the loud speakers during 1 second only. Power management seems linked to the loud speakers problem.
