That's not necessary.  The parition was full.  The problem was that the 
documentation did not specify a minimum size for /boot.  I found that a 20MB 
partition does well (3 sectors on most newer drives).  Usually my boot 
partition is only 7 megs (1 sector).  This was insufficient.  Problem easily 
corrected.  Just needs some documentation.  (The documentation may have 
already been updated I haven't checked in a while.)
