I can't experiment with RAM because my son now has the laptop in college, and I won't get my hands on it till the end of the month.
Also, in response to your earlier question, I have tried: - the live CD - booting from USB - copying in an AMD64 Intrepid from another laptop All exhibit the same behavior. 32-bits works perfectly.
