Arthashastra Quotes on religion

1 A man is born alone and dies alone; and he experiences the good and bad
consequences *of his karma alone*; and he goes alone to hell or the Supreme
abode.

2 He who nurtures benevolence for all creatures within his heart overcomes
all difficulties and will be the recipient of all types of riches at every
step.

3 A man attains greatness by his merits, not simply by occupying an exalted
seat. Can we call a crow an eagle (Garuda) simply because he sits on the
top of a tall building.

4 He who is prepared for the future and he who deals cleverly with any
situation that may arise are both happy; but the fatalistic man who wholly
depends on luck is ruined.

5 Even as the unborn babe is in the womb of his mother, these five are
fixed as his life destiny: his life span, his activities, his acquisition
of wealth and knowledge, and his time of death.

II Chanakya or any quotes must be read on a whole or else it shall
render, meaning with the favouritism. Even this quote of Mr J gives an
impression that, ONE WHO DEPENDED ON LUCK (IF MEANT AS KARMA PREDETERMINED)
THEN, THEY ARE INEVITABLE BELIEF IS RIGHT. The artha sastra did not stray
away from Sanatana dharma. It believes in Karma and 5 predeterminations in
life. Then, “he who dealt cleverly” becomes redundant. Maybe if prepared
means come what may, then he is enduring both the good and bad but working
as a Judge or a thief and feels successful. The other part then means, one
who believes that all will be done only by lck, without doing anything
alone squandered his life. If that alone the quote means then, it is known
more easily than chanakya shall say. Action alone shall yield results
subject to birth Karma. K Rajaram IRS 16 9 24
