I have installed and configured SquirrelMail.
When i send mail, it adds 'mail' to from address. Say user1 sent an email, I recieve
from address as [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My smtp server is setup as hostname.domain.com only. so when somebody replies to
mail.hostname.domain.com address I am not able to recieve it.

I want it to show only [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I checked using conf.pl, at no place i have

mentioned

'mail' still it produces 'mail' in from address.

Can somebody let me know how to fix it.

1) conf.pl -> 2 (server settings) -> domain -> set
this correctly
2) if problems continue, fix your server. SM does
not add anything more to outgoing addresses

My conf.pl server settings are correct.

This problem is not seen when i use pine or mozilla
mail, I only have it in Squirrelmail.

Any suggestions.

Yes.

1) don't email me directly, otherwise no one else can help you
2) it's easier to read if you don't top post
3) if the domain is set correctly in conf.pl, then this is really not an SM problem. check that your SMTP server is correct in conf.pl and then look at why your SMTP server is adding what is probably the local machine name to the outgoing address
4) you can do a workaround of entering your actual email address in Options->Personal Information->Email Address, but you'd need to make sure all your users do the same
