I have tried adjusting volumes with all the numerous sliders on
different mixers, to no avail. I did however 'unhide' some sliders from
the SB Audigy (CAXXX) mixer and find one that set the volume It was

I ended up using kid3 (even though I'm using gnome) to change v2.4 to
v2.3 tags - no luck with Rhythmbox.
Just resaving tags in easyTAG or Rhythmbox or Ex Falso gave good tags in
Amarok, but not in Rhythmbox (not persistent in Rhythmbox).

Might I suggest that the '-p' option here be removed. If $USER_HOME

Frankly, I'm a little gun-shy right now. Somehow or another, Ubuntu was
creating a conflict with Vista and the "work-around" didn't always work, so
I uninstalled Ubuntu. I want to wait until A5 is released before
reinstalling.

the exception of a simple module versions warning (due to -proposed).

Just to comment further on my 'simple module warning':
The linux/initrd.gz in hardy-proposed/i386/current are 2.6.24-16
The error during unattended installation is:

Have you added "apt-setup/proposed=true" without quotes to your kernel append
line, or "d-i apt-setup/proposed boolean true" without quotes to your preseed
script? Are you using a local mirror or a known-good upstream mirror with
2.6.24-19 already synced into -proposed?

I also had this issue. Rather than just not start ntpd in
/etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate
(you'd be better off just removing the script, no?),
I made it so that ntpd is restarted only if it was running to begin with:
I now have this at the bottom of my script (replacing the few lines
where ntpd was
Just updated and the problem is fixed for me.
