It hasn't been assigned to anybody so the likelyhood of it being fixes
in time for lucid is pretty close to zero.
The same issue occurs with HDMI. The speakers cut out but no sound
through HDMI.

The xorg.conf file was created by the aticonfig --init command. The
catalyst application is unable to set a virtual resolution and keeps
hanging up. Overall the the functionality of the application is
somewhere around 70% working on this machine.
If you want to close this bug I am fine with that.
This occurs in a chain of crashes. Gwibber fails, this fails and do does
a desktop applet.
The end result is that the wifi network is super slow and need to
reboot.

The package does fix the headphone issue! The HDMI behavior is different
too but not correct. Now the sound comes out through the laptop speakers
even if you choose HDMI as the output.
Congratulations on the fix for the headphone issue. That's a big one.
