Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

Laptop will not suspend or hibernate. It seems to go into an in between
state.

When suspended the screen goes dark but the fans don't go off.

When hibernated the screen goes black with a blinking cursor on the
upper left of the screen but the fans don't go off.

In either case the the machine won't wake back up and has to be shut
down using the power button.
