When you install VirtualBox from the innotek repos, you are not using
the Open Source Edition anymore, but the commercial edition which is
closed source, free for personal use.
It would be great if the vboxdrv module would be installable through a
"virtualbox-ose-modules" package
I have the same problem (using Nvidia GPU). When I enable visual effects
the window decorations are gone.

I can confirm the problem and in my opinion this is definitely a
problem, even if Janne is right and the key finally gets generated after
a long time. My system is not under load at all during the key
generation.

enough, but it took 30 minutes on my Thinkpad T30. It's still a problem
cause on a Debian system with similar hardware it took about 20 seconds.

My guess is, that language-support-de is to blame: language-support-de
gets only satisfied by myspell-de-de but not by myspell-de-de-oldspell.
At least that is annoying, because you can't use the language-support-de
metapackage if you want to use the old german spelling.

I can confirm this bug. Tried it with fresh installation of hardy alpha4
and hardy alpha6 on system with Geforce4 GPU. For me, the window borders
disappear as soon as I turn on effects (i.e. compiz). I only have window
decorations when I set appearance to no effects (i.e. metacity). I also

Confirmed. Fresh installation of beta, upgrade through Update Manager,
English language pack. Suggested workaround dpkg --install --force-
overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/language-pack-
en_1%3a8.04+20080317_all.deb leads to 5 broken packages but upgrade is
able to continue nevertheless.

Correction: the Update Manager is complaining about 5 broken packages,
but after the upgrade finishes I ran aptitude dist-upgrade on CLI to
make sure and everything looks fine.

Just tested the beta iso. Problem still exists exactly as described
above. I don't see that anyone of the Ubuntu QA or dev team is caring

I made a fresh install with alpha-6 snapshot and activated the Nvidia
drivers through Administration/Hardware Drivers. Still the same problem:
hardware acceleration works, compiz gets activated automatically after a
restart, but window decorations are missing! I have to fall back to
metacity in ord
