Shouldn't network-manager-gnome depend on a matching version of network-
manager so that temporary mirroring issues do not become a problem? Mind
that after updating NetworkManager the user is asked to reboot the

I saw this a couple of days ago on a Dell Mini 9. Something killed all
the desktop apps during an upgrade involving many packages. This forced
me to hard-reset the machine, boot into the half-upgraded system and fix
the mess from one of the VTs. Very annoying if it indeed happens

I think there are several different sound issues and we are assuming
it's the same bug.
In my case the problem is now gone -- I had to use alsamixer to set a
non-zero PCM volume, though. I'm pretty sure I did have a problem
because there was sound in flash video, and flash responds to the Alsa

I have the same problem. Booting with the external screen attached is
OK, and gnome-display-properties works fine. Attaching the screen once X
has started and opening gnome-display-properties hangs the computer as
described by j^.

I've notices that in karmic there are automatic quirks from hal, and the
two I mentioned above are correctly picked for my system. However in
karmic there is now another problem with suspend/resume on this
computer.

plugin with the "Window centre" option on. If you try to put the centre
of the window in the centre of the screen it gets put slightly above it;
this is especially noticeable for tall windows, or if you have another

The problem is that glib is failing to start a thread with the
scheduling priority of the parent thread. In particular, eglibc is
reporting that the requested priority is out of range. So something
somewhere is deciding that I am not allowed to set the real-time
priority of a thread, which is obvio
Does my reasoning sound sensible to you? Should this be forwarded
upstream then?

This problem still exists in up-to-date karmic. It happens rarely though
-- I've been playing videos on totem for an hour before it appeared, and
I got it too a couple of days back in the middle of watching a movie.
I'll do an apport-collect to add the necessary info.
