Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
Until Jaunty, gnome-power-manager used to allow the user to choose "Do nothing" for power events "When laptop lid is closed" and "When battery power is critically low". However that is not available in Karmic (although one can still resort to gconf-editor to do the same). This is an issue in my case because my laptop has the annoying habit of reporting an empty battery every so many reads (which I think is a hardware issue), especially when it heats up, and my workaround is to set it to do nothing when that happens, and monitor the battery level myself. There are software bugs (e.g., bug #410604) which cause wrong battery charge estimation, for which the above options would also be useful.
