I have found the "problem".
I have run "alsamixer" and only from there is possible to re-enable 6 channels.
It's not possible to fix it from pavucontrol
Anyway, before closing the bug think about the following and try to see things
from a newbie perspective:
it seems that gnome-alsa-mixer does no
reproduced again:
after having upgraded the kernel the audio rolled back to "2 channels" mode,
and it was not possible to change it from pulseaudio tools.
Workaround:
$ run alsamixer( and enable 6 channels)
$ killall pulseaudio

it does not work. If I do cat of the file don't see the value that I tried to
input.

sometime, rarely, it still happens, and I have to reboot the machine.

I suspect the priority cannot be medium if you have to reboot a server.
kacpid cannot be killed and right now I didn't find a workaround.

Final Workaround:
I disabled in the BIOS "fan controlled from operating system".
My BIOS allows to set a fixed speed (from 50% up to 100%) or speed controlled
by operating system.
Now I have put the speed fixed to 50% and this is fixed fixed fixed.
Please let me know if you need further informat
there is not much to investigate: USB hub drivers are not working properl. All
people using the latest kernel from Karmic on MSI wind U100 are affected by
this issue.

I disagree, for a simple reason.
At the time that we were using Evolution 2.28 in Ubuntu Lucid, an identical
issue was raised and you were saying absolutely the same: 2.30 is still buggy
and so on
I have been using evolution 2.30 taken from a PPA, and I didn't have any issue
so far.
The same
I've tried 3.19.3-031903 and the problem is fixed (also added the tag as per
your request).
You may ask me to download all the version to check which is the first one that
fix... is this something I really need to do (please no :) )
