Even though memtest86 and memtest (memtester-package) were unable to

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have access to the
motherboard anymore; fortunately it seems that this is a motherboard
failure. The motherboard is being guarantee replaced and I'll get
another model but this is most likely a hardware issue, according to
tests by retailer.

After a recent update Firefox has been crashing on my system (Kubuntu
7.10). I can easily trigger the crash: just typing something into the
Firefox Google search bar is enough. Also opening Gmail brings Firefox
down the instant Gmail inbox loads.
Attached is a crash report, generated by typing 'a' into Google search
bar.

I wasn't able to reproduce this crash, in fact the Feisty install
crashed in various places, ranging from the mentioned to e.g. not being
able to install Grub (2 different kind of error messages there). I ran
memtest with success and installed Edgy without problems.

On my upgraded Karmic I had this problem. I was unable to print or
configure my printer until I manually started cupsd. CUPS was never
started on boot.
I noticed that /etc/rc2.d didn't have a link for CUPS. For some reason I
couldn't make the link with update-rc.d (it made the links for other
