My Dvd-rw keeps randomly breaking. I have two drives that I have tried
in the system with the same result on both drives. I have tried
disconnecting the slave drive believing this may of been the issue with
no effect.

I think I'm lowering the issue down. If I use the onboard S3 graphic I
lose the problem. So I purchased a new agp card assuming that was the
cause however the minute I plugged in the new agp card the Cd/Dvd-rw
issue returned. I'm assuming therefore that is it something to do with
the via chipset
This may be down to the nvidia driver. I haven't installed it up till
yet and the system seems stable.

Yes the work around for that is to set your screen resolution from the
F1-5 menu at the bottom. If memory server I think it is F3. That stop
the issue when the graphics driver is detected.

Seb yes this is still a fault. I have two pen drives one is a samsung
(ogg supporting player) the other a usb pendrive. I can't copy all the
ogg files off the one drive or the complete tar.gz of the other. It
just stops about 1/2- 2/3 through. Both drives are a 1Gb.

However the .ogg files are now unreadable. I'll try again on Kubuntu
and let you know if they have been corrupted but the player itself can

flawlessly in 32bit.

In 32bit Xubuntu desktop after double clicking ubiquity icon nothing
happened. So I went in cli and typed in the command to run it. There
is already an instance of ubiquity running. There are no error codes

After speaking to our Lug Mentor it was suggested that I try a 32bit
install.
This seems to of worked flawlessly. Everything is detected correctly
and working fine.
So that would indicate an issue within the 64bit version.

new 78 GB harddrive device available what did I want to do.

Yes this bug is only on edubuntu Live. On the alternative cd the
install was flawless and on Ubuntu, Xubuntu there was no error.
I shall add the Debugging info shortly.

I've been playing with various settings all evening and I have found a
solution.
Once the first menu appears hitting F4 then selecting 1024x768 (my max
res on this monitor) the process of get the desktop up is slower but I
get a viewable screen. I can then install also.

I wanted to check the setting on my display.
So I clicked on System settings and Graphics and Display and clicked on
Administrator mode I got a warning message about kdesudo and nothing
else.
I tried on other settings and the same thing happened
