to disable the privative graphic controller. That's what happened. If I
load the privative controller, all goes back as before: a black screen.

The problem was gone around after booting, sticking out and in the usb
device. Something made the PC "recognize" the usb port (anyone of them).
The final solution was to make a clean install from scratch loading
jaunty. No problems since.

I expected my PC not to run after the error, but surprisingly after
reporting the bug, the terminal running the installation closed by
itself and the PC asked to download the Ubuntu Studio Menu. I did that,
updated any other missing file, and rebooted. All worked fine.

I'm running a newly installed Intrepid on a Dell Optiplex 740. BIOS is
configured to suspend mode S3. Whenever I suspend my system everything
seems to be switched off and the computer goes quiet but the power
button keeps lit permanently instead going to blink. To restart the

Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf where copied from an 2.6.27-11 generic failed
session, not from a 2.6.27-8 generic succesfull one.
