Compiz appears to work for the most part, it's just that scrolling is
exceptionally choppy. From reading around, it was suggested that DRI
was most probably the cause. Since glxinfo segfaults, and things fall
apart from then on, something is definitely awry.

I found Bug #177492 also and tried all the options listed there. EXA and
XAA both behave similarly.
I'm not as concerned about the scrolling as I am about glxinfo
segfaulting and causing the system to fall apart.

driver for the touchscreen, although I couldn't get that to compile.
fsc-btns is the driver for the buttons which compiled and worked.

I experienced this same issue today after upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 also
on a Dell 7140 with the same trackpad.
I followed the above advice:
1. install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package -> sudo apt install
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics -y
2. Masking the service fwupd using systemctl mask fwupd.
I can confirm that this still occurs on 20.10. Is there a workaround to
remove the icon from the dash after ejecting?

Placing the onscreen keyboard in a menu puts it too far away from the
user (2-clicks) and non-obvious.
Most modern UIs have a single button to trigger the onscreen keyboard,
and this is usually indicated quite clearly by a keyboard-looking icon.

Onboard Audio not working on Dell Venu
Getting closer! Mainline kernel 4.2.0-rc5 shows the rt286 audio just
like 4.1.3 did, and the touchscreen is back! However, there's still no
sound. :-( It behaves like it's playing, tho. I've checked and
pavucontrol shows everything is there and the sound is showing on the
audiometer. Nothing a
It works! In mainline kernel 4.2.0-rc5, if you go into alsamixer and
unmute the "SPO" channel, then suddenly there's playback! :-D
