Thanks for all your replies. I have a question, though - what about
Hardy, will Thunderbird 2 be upgraded to version 3 as well? It'd be a
real shame if bugs such as these stay part of an LTS... I really can't
explain this to my customers.

John, thanks for your reply. I'm fully aware of the current version
Hardy, but that doesn't answer my question. Since you just mentioned
this bug will not get fixed in the Thunderbird 2 branch, I'm wondering
if a fix to this bug is ever going to land in Hardy (by shipping
Thunderbird 3 to Hardy).

Pedro, thanks for your fast reply. The upstream bug is indeed the same.
I hope someone with enough privileges on the Gnome Bugzilla can change
it's status into 'confirmed'.

Pedro, thanks for your reply. Let's hope upstream can fix this bug in
time before Jaunty.
And let's give credit where credit is due: Gianfranco was the first one
to report this bug.

Actually, it appears that gnome-app-install doesn't actually crash (or

So, actually you're asking me to re-install my system? Too bad these logs
aren't saved somewhere automatically to be used at a later time, if necessary.
Or are they?
Anyway, 'luckily' my Hardy installation died on me when I had a problem with
