I marked this bug as duplicate of bug #771370 some months ago but since
the problem of the original reporter of that bug is solved and mine is
still present I go back to this bug report – still, you'll find some
additional information there.

I add links to two related bugs in the debian BTS:
- debian bug 609903 (HP G62 laptop): LED indicator in the upper left corner of
the touchpad itself.

touchpad and the keyboad.
Apart from that I thought it might be a good i
This bug is about to get fixed upstream; the fix will probably be
included in kernel v3.10.

Hi Marco,
thanks for this – this is really a great workaround for as long as the
fix isn't included in the kernel.
When I use this boot parameter (on a Folio 13-2000) UPower recognizes
un/plugging of the ac adapter and the special keys (brightness +/- and
wireless adapter toggle) are working.

@ Jack: Read "How to Add a Kernel Boot Parameter"
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters) and make sure you
added the boot parameter correctly.
As mentioned here (https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kernel-

@ Jack: Seems like you'll have to wait for the fix to arrive in the

At least in my case the kernel doesn't produce any uevents for the
battery or the ac adapter, so I filed a bug report against the kernel.
UPower seems to force an update of the battery status every 30 seconds,
so the charging level reported by GNOME battery status applet

I can't reproduce this bug anymore. Since I have no idea in which
package, when or how this was fixed I'm

Thanks, I marked this bug as duplicate of bug #994745, which seems to be
an upstream kernel bug. Looks like all the HP Folio 13 sub-models are
affected…

I'm affected by a similar issue on the HP Folio 13-2000 submodel on
Debian Wheezy and reported this bug upstream. According to Zhang Rui

@ madbiologisst: Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Since I didn't need to edit any more videos I didn't keep track of this
bug. I'm working on Debian (Jessie) now and I can't reproduce this bug
anymore with gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (0.10.13-5) – neither with PiTiVi
0.15.2-0.2 nor with Totem 3.
