I'm not the assignee or maintainer, and can not therefore mark this as
solved, which it should be. Sorry for any inconvenience. This has been
solved for quite some time. Thank you very much for following up on it.

Seems to be consistent, at least.
I don't have my notes with me. The best I can
remember, I added a line to the modprobe conf file,
and it worked in Edgy, and now also in Feisty. I'll
dig out my notes when I get back home and post the
instructions.

I will forward your email to a person with much more
knowledge than me. I just read that Feisty Fawn, a new
Ubuntu revision, will be out next Thursday, and it
might be a good idea to wait and see what happens with
that.

I don't mean to be a pest about the mic, but do you

Howdy, all:
I installed Feisty, and the mic doesn't work. Same
problem. I have made all the adjustments to kmix,
volume control, and alsamixer that are available. But
no mic.
Should initiate a new bug?

But I still get this from Gxine: No demuxer found - stream format not

I am jealous. My alsamixer has 'mic' and 'line' only.
It has never had mic1 or mic2. I'm using a Dell laptop
i386. Do I have the wrong alsamixer version?
My mic worked, and I used skype and soundrecorder,
until a recent update. Nobody has said they found what
was up with that update, but it hosed
bdevice #0: subdevice #0
I will do a clean install of Feisty next week, and
proceed from that point.

Any news or hope about the microphone?
Also, about every fifth or sixth time I turn on this
computer, the trackpad doesn't work.
Seems that the mic and trackpad still have some
problem.

The instructions in the email from garybrlow are
beyond my ability and understanding. I tried Methods A
and B, but still the same problem - no mic. May I
please have some assistance getting my computer to
funcion properly?

All was working until one of the updates. Has this happened to others
also recently. My microphone does not work again. I don't know what
changed in the software updates. I do not know how to get the mic to
work again.
Also, as a result of the recent update, GoogleEarth stopped working

Right. Thank you. I'm running 6.10. Maybe something in
one of the recent updates modified the mixer?

Same in Edgy. Quite a few bugs for a system that is supposedly 'stable.'
And there seems to be no end to the bugs. Sound Recorder worked
perfectly fine for me the past month - used it several times. What did
'you' include in the software updates that changed things to create this
bug?

[Dapper]
Thanks, back. I reported that I am using Dapper. It is
an external microphone that plugs into the mic jack,
which is next to the head phone jack on the left side
of the laptop.

Any hope for me fixing the touchpad-ps/2? I've never
seen a mouse/touchpad behave so terribly. Six clicks
are required frequently, and the cursor jumps around.
