On Ubuntu Intrepid, Xorg automatically picks up my Wired XBox 360
controller as a mouse. The joystick moves the cursor.
I suspect this is not how most users of the XBox 360 controller would
like to use it. It should not be automatically treated as a

My xorg.conf is unmodified, though it seems that a configuration change
was made by a tool to explicitly use the 'nvidia' driver. Aside from
that one line in the Device entry, it is all empty blocks.

The only explicit declaration made in my Xorg.conf is in the Device
section, where the 'nvidia' driver is explicitly set (I think this was
performed by the restricted driver manager, as I don't remember altering
it.) Other than that, it seems to be the default "skeletal" config.

bit Daniel posted (assuming you leave the controller plugged in.)

Since you're using an XBox gamepad you may need
I'd hardly describe it as a fix as much as a "less unpleasant workaround,"
since the real problem lies in the fact it is treated as an X input device
at all by default. I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable about the underlying
systems to see how to fix it "properly."

Same problem, amd64 gutsy, nvidia GeForce 8500GT, using the gutsy
nvidia-glx-new package. With compiz enabled via the Appearance dialog,
on hopping to a vterm and back to the X session, I get a black screen,
with only the mouse responsive. I believe with this issue I've been able
to use alt+sysrq+k
I can confirm this bug on Feisty. Luckily it seems I don't have to make
this change every boot. Regardless, it causes Fuse to not simply "just
work" out of the box.

The bug still seems to be present. While I couldn't test with the same
exact version of SL, as it wouldn't let me log on with the old version,
testing with the latest version caused X to lockup, and not restart as
it did before. Additionally, it seemed to take longer to lockup, as I
did get a secon
As a sidenote, could this possibly be due to the dynamic shared video
memory stuff the newer Intel integrated chips have? If so I could try
testing while explicitly setting my video memory to the amount I do have
dedicated.

Manually removing the snd_hda_intel module, then modprobing it with the
model=3stack option returned my audio levels to normal. I think the
addition of the new model entries in patch_realtek.c may have caused
problems, at least on my system. Wish I had the expertise to perhaps
provide a more perman
Seems fine now in Feisty beta. Synaptics works without panicking my
kernel, logout/login does not hang. Any idea what the problem used to
be, out of curiosity?
