Am new to Linux. Loaded Ubuntu Ver 8.10 from CD, no problems. Running with
Windows on same PC. Update manager downloaded Ubuntu version 9.04. All programs
are functioning, however, Movie player, Rythem box and You tube downloads all
have the same problem, no sound. You tube

I am using an Epson DX8400 printer/sacanner on a ubuntu 18.04 64 bit
installation. When I connect the printer via USB on my fritzbox3490
router, the system sees the printer/scanner and it prints correctly.

System sound no longer working. Checked my hardware by loading TAILS on a USB
stick. Sound works perfectly. So nothing wrong with my hardware. System
20.04.2LTS was working perfectly until latest automatic update. Noticed that in
settings the sound screen has changed in lay
et to know the capabilities of the system but being scared of
doing so in case you screw it up and can't get it back to how it was.

Yes, what newcomers and I suggest most regular users want is certainty.
If the system can upgrade fully do it . If it can't then don't attempt
or offer a partial upgrade. Unless you are a Linux expert and most of us
