No. The port is a pure USB 3.0 port on a Western Digital PCIe expansion
card that came with the hard drive.
It's tested to work fine in Ubuntu Karmic and an earlier release of

Over the past week, I've experienced a hard freeze once more. Active
apps were Firefox, System Monitor, Deluge torrent, and the gnome-
screensaver.

available version, and the bug with the WLAN getting turned off after
sleep now appears to be solved.

nm-indicator-applet disappeared from my notification area some time
back. I don't know exactly when, but I do remember it was initially
present when I started using 10.04.
Attempt to solve by editing "/etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-
settings.conf" as discussed on forum has not worked for me.

Merely chipping in that this fixed my looong boot problems as well when
I reeabled the floppy in BIOS to test it. Well done.

Experienced again today, but with the difference that Firefox was not
running. I had VLC play a movie in 200% resolution, and switched back to
an open window in Chrome web-browser. The problem seems to be triggered
solely by VLC. The only console messages I can make out is that the
nouveau releases
Bug is still extant in 10.04 with latest updates, incl. ubuntu-proposed.

My addition: policykit seems to fail starting, just like several other
items in my etc/xdg/autostart/ folder, fx. Parcellite and GnomeDo. I've
had this problem for a while (10.04, latest updates, including proposed-
updates). I think this is a consequence of a different problem with
autostart items
