I have exactly the same behaviour on my Thinkpad X31, fully updated
8.10. For hardy, hibernate had always worked faultlessly. The machine
does occasionally resume successfully. On initial hibernate, I get a
thaw error of -16, the full messages disappears before I can write it

The problem appears to be the flash adverts on the page. The CPU load
increases and hence gets hot. Some solution would be to use a firefox
add-on like Flashblock. That way you can choose not use view the
adverts and your CPU can idle happily.

You might be able to restore the logout menu by changing a gnome-session
setting. Be careful with this application as you can change all kinds of
things... Press Alt-F2 and type "gconf-editor" into the dialogue box

The application you used to set the open was probably gconf-editor.
To restore the window menu you need to delete a file. Open the file
browser using "Places->Home Folder" and toggle the location

For me (using Ubuntu 8.04.1) APTonCD adds a menu icon to
"System->Administration" immediately on install. However, giSOMount
does not and the package file list does not include a ".desktop" file;
so I can confirm that. I'm not sure where you are getting "avant 4

I can confirm this bug using the same palm and the same palm software.
The work around is to format the sd card from Linux. The problem also
occurs, with the same solution if you use the SD card in a standard card
reader rather than using the palm and the "CardReader" palm software.

I presume the tick box to the left is enabled? If you click the play
button do you get a short drum roll? The reason I'm asking about this
option is that if it is enabled but you have no sound specified, you get
a system beep instead. I thought that might have been the cause;
