The notification about the "importance" change just reminded me of this bug. It seems to be solved since Ubuntu 9.04, at least on the few computers I use. It is not closed on gnome-bugs, where it seems inactive since July 2008. Somebody fixed something, maybe in the environment, which solved this p

I also had a similar problem after changing my motherboard: my USB wifi dongle was disconnected after an error message related to rhythmbox (in dmesg: "usb 2-1.1: usbfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd rhythmbox rqt 128 rq 6 len 255 ret -71"). I was able to reconnect by unplugging / replugging it. D
