I can also confirm this issue on a current edgy installation.
When the webcam is plugged in on boot it always becomes device 0 and the
real sound card becomes device 1. This breaks all apps using audio.
Also, unplugging doesn't help, because then, there's not even a device 0
anymore and the apps b

The current state in edgy seems to be that the official firefox logo is
used in the Applications menu but the unofficial "only the globe" icon
is still used everywhere else (i.e. in the taskbar, in the about dialog,
etc.).
Since the Mozilla guys seem to take this branding issue seriously,
perhaps

release edgy with that ugly cancel icon that can be seen all over the

Recently beagled is sometimes consuming all available CPU.
Running in debug mode reveals that CPU-hogging occurs when scanning my
Thunderbird mails. It also does this quite often so I have to kill
beagled (with KILL because in that state it also does not react to
TERM)...

Starting firefox via clicking on a link in thunderbird prevents firefox
from using saved passwords as well.
In short, when starting firefox via thunderbird it's somehow severly
crippled and barely usable...

These are all valid points. What I care about is what the final release will
look like. I think after all the effort that's being put into the artwork to

My IBM Thinkpad (and all other thinkpads that I know of) have three
special volume contol keys: "volume up", "volume down" and "mute". These
keys are directly wired to the sound hardware, they need *no* software
support to work.

This bug has been fixed some time ago in hardy.
You seem to be using hardy, but the lines you refer to are not in the
current version of the bash_completion script. Maybe you edited the old
version and did not agree to use the new version on upgrade.

OK. I just checked a gutsy->hardy upgrade and if /etc/bash_completion is
unchanged it gets replaced with the new version. If it has changes, a
prompt comes up, at least with aptitude.
So most probably you got a prompt and chose to keep the old (changed)

I can also confirm this on a Samsung Q45 using Hardy RC. I'll attach a
photo of the screen with the last output on it.
This is rather disappointing since it did not work in gutsy either, and
it apparentlz did work at some point in the hardy cycle.

You can get debug symbols for the Ubuntu packages, see:

gdb should pick them up automatically, IIRC.

Maybe you could try this:
sudo apt-get install ltrace
ltrace -o ltrace.txt -S -n 4 -f bash -c 'compgen -u'
and post the log (maybe gzip it first :))
That should give much information. At least it does in my case...

I can also confirm that blacklisting the video.ko module solves the
problem. Unfortunately that is not possible for the Live CD (which is
also a big problem IMHO). So there you have to boot with acpi=off to
work around it.

I tried applying this patch manually and now the Battery hotkey works,
the others now show up via 'lshal -m' but do nothing. So there is more
needed for a fix than this patch.

I can also confirm that on my Q45 Dalia laptop, adding "options snd-hda-
intel model=hippo" fixes this issue for me.
I also seem to be using the ALC262 chip.
I suspect that Brian has a different issue. And pelle.k, if adding
model=hippo does not fix this for you, you probably also have a
differen
BTW, is there anything we can provide that can help the kernel team fix
this?
