Yep, I talked to Matthew and it should definitely be in 2.6.30-rc7 in
karmic which is the kernel that I tested with. So either it's not the
issue which was addressed with that patch or the patch has not
completely resolved the issue.

My X4500 is also still fairly sluggish compared to intrepid with
UXA/DRI2. Tried out Fedora 11 Beta for comparison which performed like
intrepid did. I'm not sure what the difference in their stack is or if

difference but the performance is still sluggish. In comparison at least
to Fedora 11 Beta which is afaik using X server 1.6. I am trying to

Its not just with composite enabled. Kwin with both compositing enabled
and disabled on this chipset seem to have the same behaviour. Powertop
also shows an increased number of wakeups.

I don't think this issue is fixed just by enabling UXA. I have enabled
uxa on an intel X4500 card ( Lenovo thinkpad X200) and i am stil getting
artifacts. Attached is a screen shot.

I am also experiencing this bug on Ubuntu Hardy running on SATA disks.

theme? it's one of the H2O themes: H2O-gtk2-Amber.
I could restart it with valgrind -- unfortunately it'd be assuming that
