root partition during startup. If I start in recovery mode it however
does ask me for the password and the system boots normally (although in
text mode).
Expected result:

issue is considerable functional regression compared to Jaunty and
should definetly be fixed before releasing Karmic.

The strange thing is that you don't need to enter the right password.
You either click OK, Cancel or Close three times and you get into your new

This issue apparently has been fixed with the latest update.
Compiz is now already replaced by metacity with a resolution width of 2048 px
in total.

I found out that in lucid, it is only a resolution of exactly 2048px in total,
which is a problem.
If the total width is greater, for example 1280 + 800 = 2080px, then compiz is
automatically replaced by metacity and things work fine. While in karmic it is
everything >= 2048px that won't work.
On updated lucid I experienced that the following part of this bug was not
fixed:
usb-creator formats the whole disk instead of one partition.

Before marking this bug as fixed I uninstalled nautilus-bzr and didn't
notice that it was just because of that.

I've the same problem/bug, but with different hardware. A fresh
installation of Ubuntu 9.04, installed with a netgear WN121T wireless

I don't know if this bug is related to #212019, but the unmounting
problem exists for me on a machine with no wifi-capabilities. I'm about
to try http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=293513 as a fix tonight,
but that sounds like a workaround rather than a solutioni.

I had this on an AMD64, running 32bit hardy, fully up-to-date. I
upgraded from at least 7.04, 7.10 to 8.04. I have had this problem both

I just installed the 2 patches which I had downloaded before your

With the fglrx driver not loaded, and with Paul's patches applied, I
have had no crash whatsover: I'm unable to crash my machine.
So, to me, it looks as if (at least in 16 bit mode), paul's patches do
the trick just fine!
