I believe the problem was tied to the sound card. After the reinstall
of the system, I still had the same problems. I pulled the sound card
and went back to the onboard audio. This took care of the problems.

I can confirm this problem in 8.10 final. The buttons associated with the MX
Revolution thumb wheel (Button13, Button15, Button17) cannot be bound using
ccsm. In ccsm I get a pick list with only Button1 thru Button9 and no apparent
way to select a higher button.

I'm seeing the same behavior on Kubuntu hardy. Ctrl-A opens the "Save
as" dialog instead of selecting all the text. Ctrl-S underlines selected
text. Only happens in Imporess, not in Writer nor Calc.

This seems to be when the calculation causes the display to have to
scroll.
Example,
Using calculator with the Basic view and not stretched, enter
1+1+1+1. The view incorrectly displays the result. In
some calculations is appears as if the figure has completely vanished as
noted
I am also having the same problem (syslogd was killed or quit itself).
The last line in syslog.0 is "exiting on signal 15".
This is a very serious problem as postfix stops sending mail if syslogd
is not there.

to have the option to drag/drop these panels though. The way I set my
system up is with multiple displays and two panels each covering the top
of the display. That way I have two separate window lists, one for each
monitor.
I thought that's what the "Allow panel to be moved/Lock the placement of
the panel" options were for. I can't find the changelog but I was able
to figure out the key qualifier. It feels like the feature is a little
more hidden. There's no information about the key qualifier in the

Ricky, are you sure? I seem to be getting 802.11n speeds when using
ndiswrapper (it reports the speed as 130 Mb/s, and transfers are faster
than what I usually see from 802.11g).

which contains Chinese, kpdf will fail to display most of the Chinese
text, while kghostview will work fine.

I am using a preseed file to perform unattended installations over the
network. The preseed file is shown below.
d-i debian-installer/locale string en_US

OTOH, instead of installing console-data, running "dpkg-reconfigure
console-setup" and answering the questions also fix the problem.

In that case, why not remove krec from the official repository? If a
package is in the official repository, people will expect that it is
under a certain defined quality control, which obviously isn't the case
here.

Yes this bug is very much live in the final 7.04. I've had to switch
to UIM as I'm doing Java development and SCIM is as good as useless
there.
Here's how to replicate:
Fresh install of Ubuntu 7.04. I'm using en_GB.UTF-8 locale and yes it
is registered in the global file. T
complete program. So
something is corrupted. However, I have since loaded a couple of other
Ubuntu rippers which seem to behave as expected, so the problem is
probably with Sound Juicer. I will log a bug to that effect on the
author's website.
