notebook is also a Compal clone. I couldn't find this bug because I was

It seems PCMCIA slot is broken. I was able test the hardware with MS
Windows and there the hardware gives similar problems. Also other cards

It's running Dapper right now, should I upgrade it to Feisty?
The problem occured with the i810 driver at first, used for the onboard
video on the mainboard. The screen would just go black. I could ssh into
the box fine & CPU usage would settle after a while.

Since I switched from Ubuntu Lucid to Ubuntu Precise, the fonts in all
my Qt4 applications look significantly worse. Especially cyrillic
characters are not displayed properly. In Ubuntu Lucid everything works
fine.

This bug is caused by multiple issues.
The AMD64 deb that is available depends on ia32-libs, but this
transitional package is not installable at all on Ubuntu Precise. It
depends on 32-bit libraries that still conflict with 64-bit libraries.

After standby, Pulseaudio completely refuses to detect my device properly when
I remove and insert multiple times it I get either:
- nothing
- only a stereo playback device
- only a recording device
I do not get both at the same time.

At the end here at least, the pid file points to the lowest PID. Could I
check it during the start-up phase as well? Could it be possible the 2nd
instance is already loading before the 1st has a chance to write its pid
file?
Does it make sense that Pulseaudio's respawn option should be turned on,
Yes, it only seems to happen with KDE. I also found that Pulseaudio
installs one extra start-up script for KDE only in /etc/xdg/autostart.
The man pages of these scripts both mention they will use an already
running Pulseaudio.
I think the proper solution is either:
- run Pulseaudio *once* and nev
I've disabled baloo here, but I still have a .local/share/baloo/ which
takes up 14GB (out of 240GB total). It's strange that Dolphin (also
containing Konqueror's filemanaging kparts) is depending on baloo.
