i am experiencing this bug on jaunty, kde 4.2, with digikam complaining
about the missing kio slaves, and also in kde 4.3 beta 2 (4.2.90),
without any mention about kio slaves.
all installations were performed through apt, with kubuntu repos.
in other words, i haven't been able to use digikam in
@stefan, I have already tested the behaviour with the mainline kernels
closest to 2.6.27-14 and 2.6.28-11. I have not tested any version
after 2.6.28-11. In all this cases, using the ahci module produces the
timeouts, but ata_piix works fine. If only i could tell the 2.6.28
kernels to use ata_piix
+1 at Bernhard. I have been following this bug closely, and i read the
whole 300+ comments, but i got lost in regards as to which packages
are affected, and what versions should introduce fixes, apart from the
backported xserver-xorg-video-intel mentioned above.

@aidar: it's a completely different issue, this is with the propietary
fglrx driver, gentoo's is with mesa, this affects kwin when resuming
from suspension to memory, that one affects plasma, this is worked
around by changing to Xrender compositing, that one is fixed by
resetting the plasma conf.
I can confirm this issue with a HD 4650 card on a VAIO VGN-FW480j, using
kde 4.2.98 (kde 4.3 RC 3).

I can confirm this in Lucid amd64.
Apparently, we have different versions of mysql-server-core and mysql-
common (wtf?) for amd64 and i386, and version dependencies for other

outside the one carried by the repos, and the problem is there. A
current workaround for me is to specify the model to toshiba-s06, and
upstream this issue was identified and supposedly fix in an update
that is not currently carried by

So, who has the power to make something in main (kde4libs, i suppose)
depend on hupnp? It is rather unacceptable that this and #975327 are
both stuck in ubuntu's bureaucratic limbo since 2012, if everything is

I may be experiencing a seemingly related issue, in that for some reason, the
.Xauthority file gets created with
-rw--- 1 root root permissions, which causes lightdm to flash the black
screen and then return to the login screen.
sudo chmod user:user .Xauthority
fixes the issue for me.
