Public bug reported: BaseX is currently packaged to be used as a user application, started manually from the console or from system menus in the case of the GUI.
This means that the server starts as a user application, using the user's home dir for database and configuration data. It would be extremely valuable if the package included support for starting basex as a system daemon, maybe ran as its own user, with a system-wide home dir in /var/lib/* as is customary for database servers in debian/ubuntu. I am currently trying to get this done by using service-wrapper (http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/service-wrapper) but my lack of experience with Java apps has prevented me from making much progress. This is, of course, a wishlist item. ** Affects: basex (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258350 Title: Package BaseX as system daemon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/basex/+bug/1258350/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
