This happens for me under Gutsy when I unlock the computer after suspend
to ram. The gnome-screensaver dialog shows up and I can unlock it okay
but after that the screen is just black and only the mouse works. Caps
lock, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, and SysRq don't work. This is on an X40 with
an 855GM vide
I have the same problem on my Dell 640m running Ubuntu 7.10 final,

Applying the following patch to /etc/viewvc/viewvc.conf after the dist-upgrade
fix the issue
I generated the patch by diffing the feisty-upgraded-to-gutsy
/etc/viewvc/viewvc.conf and the gutsy-installed one
I believe this is a configuration files migration/update bug

Can you try to apply the following modification to your /etc/viewvc/viewvc.conf
after upgrading:
add
template_dir = /etc/viewvc/templates
in [options] section
comment all options
in [templates] section
And report if you still get the same error or not.

I don't know yet. Back when i posted the bug, we found out that it was
due to a missing "definition file" of some sort. So it would be an
upstream issue. I'll check if it has been fixed and report back here.

Scoopex, except for the communication with launchpad reportbug does
everything you want.
Extending reportbug seems like a better idea than to replace it when
it's just a few new features that are needed.

The problem with the affected system is that _gtk.so from PyGTK is
referensing to a symbol called gtk_recent_action_get_type but the
dynamic linker cannot find a library containing it.
Perhaps the gtk+ installation on your system is broken? Eg, PyGTK is
newer than GTK+.
