I can't give you ~/.xsession-errors from the installation session since
there's nothing to do but hard reboot when the screen blanks out.
Switching to a virtual console doesn't work at that point either.
Here's what I get in /var/log/installer/debug when running ubiquity -d
from the live session:
I double checked the md5sum which was indeed correct. Rewrote the image
with dd and it worked. Rewrote the image one more time and got the same
issues as my first attempt. I would say it's probably time to throw this
USB stick out the window. Thanks for checking into this guys!

Something similar happens to me when right clicking links on pages.
Sometimes add bookmark comes up, sometimes the link opens in a new tab,
sometimes a new window comes up, sometimes the page switches direction.
Most times the menu appears though but it still is very irritating. :)

not button-up like on Windows. If the mouse is being moved just a little
bit at the same time it might be over an item when the button is

I think I spoke too soon. I experienced some quite bad corruption with a
maximised gnome-terminal running VIM (over SSH on a Debian machine, with
syntax highlighting editing a PHP file).
However, again reverting to -173 but still using the fixed compiz, I

I was having this problem in Intrepid beta (amd64) with latest updates.
imwheel crashed every time I log in when it was set to start
automatically in /etc/X11/imwheel/startup.conf. Starting it manually
after it crashed worked just fine.
However, adding imwheel to my gnome session instead of using

64-bit), it happens for me with both the 177 and 173 drivers.
I have almost a 100% reproducibility rate in CompizConfig Settings
Manager (clicking a plugin to show its settings), but the worst thing is

I just got a similar hang while installing Edgy from a fresh ISO and
trying to to manual partioning since I got both Mepis and Windows XP

This almost stopped me installing Edgy today. I had to manually kill

Ok, so I tracked down some differences from the dmesg logs between the
two kernel versions and it seems apparent that a different framebuffer
device driver is used in the live CD kernel. I attach the intalled
kernel (2.6.15-23) log for reference against the already attached log
from the live CD ker

My understanding is that the 1280x800 mode in the i810 driver, that I
just got to work on an Acer Travelmate 3002WTMi BTW, is enabled by
having this mode in the BIOS and not otherwise. The rationale behind
this, I have been told, is that the i810 driver for the 915GM has no
chance to know about DAC
