This seems to be a dependency issue. To resolve the problems I mentioned above, I had to install: kdebase-plasma-kde4 kdeplasmoids I think kdebase should depend on these. The kdeplasmoids package removes extragear but that should be okay because I think it replaces it. -- KDE 4.1 Beta 2 Package
