Another clue: this problem did not occur on an XP box, with which I was
able to download/upload ODT and WPD files. I have been unable to

New information: changing the file extension allows the file to be
downloaded.
Change an ODT file's extension to any extension that works, and the file
may be downloaded successfully. It does not matter what the extension
is, as long as it belongs to a file type that successfully transfers.

I have this same problem with my work WebDAV. If I rename an ODT file
to a DOC file, it opens fine, but if I try to open an ODT file as-is, it
fails. It won't even let me download any ODT to my local client--the
error message reports that the file was "not found." Again, renaming
the file to DOC
This problem still exists exactly as described on all my machines with
12.04 installed.

I have a Lenovo 580, and on it too the screen goes black after the boot
screen. I press Fn + UpArrow to brighten it. I assume the screen
brightness is being set to zero every time I reboot.

completely. The behavior is the same as if the extension were ODT. The
file is "Not Found." Replacing the ODT extension with almost any other
common extension results in my being able to move the files to my local
machine, where I
