Another piece to the puzzle: I have tried removing the extension completely. The behavior is the same as if the extension were ODT. The file is "Not Found." Replacing the ODT extension with almost any other common extension results in my being able to move the files to my local machine, where I can restore the correct extension and use the file normally.
