Hi, I am also unable to install the JRE-plugin, using the installation
instructions on
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml#selfextracting.
Meanwhile I have repeated this install-procedure for at least two JRE
version, and always Firefox seems to notice nothing of the JRE plugin.

Yes, it is reproducable on my pc. I'd think you need only gcompris - I
have not installed tuxpaint.
Start games -> gcompris
on left side, select the 3. icon from top: puzzles
now select the two blue fishes from top left in main window: this is "photo

maybe it is helpful to write some details:
-especially- time is required, when printing double-sided pages for example,
which sometimes take 2-4 minutes. For PDF-textpages.

My problem has been solved:
Right now & with the latest xubuntu-packages I tried to reproduce the
effect.
It does not occure any longer.

Just today I got the same problem as some few months ago with
thunderbird (and I swear I really didn't changed anything or installed
anything else):
now the default path directs to the root-dir "/"

I am using Xubuntu, Firefox had been the default browser.
Since using Chromium as my default browser (Firefox has not been
uninstalled), Thunderbird still uses Firefox as the default browser.
How do I know what's my default browser? Chromium asked/told me.
