Okay, I just had a period of no audio, I restarted and nothing happened.
Then I rediscovered what I did the first time to get it working. I went
to sound settings and pressed the test sound button, the sound worked
fine. Then all other sounds worked fine after that.

Good to know Michael. This could be a pretty huge feature for Mac
converts who want to test out the waters. I have a bunch of Mac drives I
used for lots of stuff over the past 3-4 years and as a former mac user,
that was my strategy. I have since switched full on to Ubuntu and am
planning on migrat
K, just got a new SSD so I did another fresh install. I recreated it,
and it appears as if toggling bluetooth on and off is the cause of this.
If I restart while Bluetooth ON = mouse is locked out of OS, Bluetooth
OFF = it works.

Running 11.10 for few weeks now with no issues. Got this issue randomly

Fyi, for some reason the workarounds of using Ctrl + Alt + F1/F2 don't
quite work on my Thinkpad W510, it puts the machine into sleep mode.
However, Ctrl + Alt + F6 drops me to a system terminal correctly and
then Ctl + Alt + F7 brings me back to a black border free Unity.

This issue is also affecting my Lenovo Z580 with Intel Ivybridge. Some
boots get lucky, the unlucky boots force me to painfully hold down the
power button untill the computer hard resets.

I just installed Xubuntu 11.10 fresh last night and then installed all
the updates. Today I got an error that I did not have enough free space
so I ran the disk usage analyzer and I have a syslog.1 and kern.log that
are both 7 GB each, not sure how this happened but it could really mess
things up f

I have installed hfsplus hfsutil hfsprogs and libhfsp0 and I have had no
luck getting a Journaled HFS+ filesystem to let me write on it.
I am running the latest beta of Meerkat.

With 10.04 I fixed with:
sudo gedit /etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mcrypt.ini
remove the # character and save file and the message goes away.
