I have the same problem with my Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card and
ubuntu 10.04 (i386). With Ubuntu 9.04 everything was fine. Please fix

Wow, that's crazy. The "pulseaudio volume control" shows all profiles
like previous versions of ubuntu did. After changing to 5.1 (the music
is ok, then) there's a new entry "USB Sound Device Analog Surround 5.1"
on the default audio settings dialog. I still cannot change the mode

For me, the fix doesn't work. After starting alsamixer and choosing my
external sound card (SB X-Fi Surround 5.1) it says "This sound device
does not having any controls.". So pulseAudio seems to be the only way
to control my sound card. But this isn't a problem of the new sound
