the network manager is not seeing my pc's network devices the same as the
command line view (ifconfig).
Infact it displays duplicate labels for each of the physical devices.
The pc has 1 gigaethernet device and 1 wireless network device. Additionally
one USB2Ethernet devic
This issue is very similar to a few others reported before and is not
limited to Intel chip sets. Also affects ATI and Nvidia.
The symptoms seem to point to compviz conflicting with the "Display
Settings" utility.

We have confirmed that symptoms in step 1 through 5 of the original post occur
on two different machines.
Have also confirmed steps 6 and 7 occur on one of the machines.
These only occur when Visual Effects are enabled via "Appearance Preferences"
utilitly.

X server crashes when compiz is running. this is why the operator will see
the login screen as a new X server process is started. Of course this causes a

Another note to add.
When running under the Jaunty Beta live session, I was able to use the 3G usb
stick, will little trouble.
Enclosed is the folder with logs for that session. in daemon.log it can be
shown that the modem successfully makes connection.

Can anyone with the special low resolution notebooks confirm if the
following fixes the issue?
1. extract the messenger.jar file of thunderbird applicaiton
unzip /usr/share/thunderbird/chrome/messenger.jar
