Was planning to provide Xorg.0.log file but found it may be limited use because X server crashes when compiz is running. this is why the operator will see the login screen as a new X server process is started. Of course this causes a new log file to be created. Thus to read the xorg log, its important to understand which process created it and which should be submitted.
Steve Beattie: The issue does not happen with metacity. I am going to try to run an strace on compiz and save the the Xorg.0.log (Xorg.0.log.1) file as well on the next run. Again this should be reproducible on most any machine i suspect.
