After running intel_gpu_dump after resuming, I switch vt's back to X,
and experienced the same symptoms (locked up, touchpad could move mouse
cursor, external mouse could not, system not responsive to vt changing,
could still ssh into it, sysrq's were responded to).

I've got a 2.5GB ext4 image which reproduced the issue when mounted on
/mnt/test. Attached is the e2image output produced immediately before
deleting the files. The hang itself occurred part way into writing
the files during the next cycle (as it usually does).

I added some instrumentation to /usr/sbin/pm-suspend, it turns out that
it _is_ being executed when dbus-send or g-p-m's suspend is issued, but
failing with some inhibit that doesn't seem to cause issues when pm-
suspend is run by hand.

drm/i915: Respect GM965/GM45 bit-17-instead-of-bit-11 option for
swizzling.
This fixes readpixels
Noted a patch above the above one, that disabled gem when pae is enabled
due to some interaction. Our -server kernel has pae enabled. This
suggests a workaround...
And having installed the -server kernel (2.6.27-4-server), I can confirm
that it works around this issue.

Just started happening to me a couple days after I upgraded to jaunty,
didn't seem to be any updates that triggered it.
Consistently occurred for 3 reboots, going away when I switched to vesa,
and coming back when switching back to intel, and then mysteriously
disappeared again just as I was switc

server kernel, and therefore don't have gem disabled due to pae being
