A better fix would be to edit /usr/share/cgmail/service/notifier.py and on line
122 not only check for 'buttons', but also check if the notification system
supports buttons.
Temp fix is: comment out lines 122-125 and unindent line 126.

Today I tried banshee's daily build to see if this was fixed. Indeed,
banshee now uses the monochrome icon, but the grey background is still
present (unlike in other notification area-applications). I'm attaching
a screenshot.

indicator applet (as per instructions here

I seem to have the same problem. This only occurs with the MSN protocol,

behind this is that a user will expect to be searching the 'files and
folders' that are visible when accessing the files&folders screen, just
like he is able to search the applications that are visible when
