VLC plays fine using pulse, Totem fails for some videos only. I've found
out all videos failing have AC3 audio, most at 448kbs and some at
384kbs. Maybe related to AC3 decoding with gstreamer. The extra packages
are installed. My hardware is a HP Mini 210-1010ES running an up-to-date
Ubuntu 10.04.
Matt Zimmerman gives a good hint about this issue on bug 532586 comments
#14, 15 and #16. It might be related to a cpu load limit.

Now that the fix has been released, the update process should not create
duplicate UUIDs, but how can people already affected by this bug get rid
of the duplicate UUIDs?
Is there a way to generate new UUIDs for each affected partition or
should we remove all UUIDs from menu.lst and fstab and use e

I can confirm this bug, which also appears in my system.
My graphics card is an MGA G200 AGP, and the behaviour I get is that
when GDM starts, my monitor goes into power-saving mode complaining that
its maximum frequency has been reached. I double-checked the frequency
ranges in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
I can confirm that after doing what Alex Muntada suggested in his
previous comment python2.3 could finally be uninstalled from my system.

Here the icon g-p-m is showing can be seen next to the System Monitor
icon in the notification area. It looks like a battery with a kind of
"no entry" sign in the middle.

This screenshot shows that the g-p-m notification appears on top of the
bottom panel, whereas the notification area (and the g-p-m applet) are
on the panel at the top of the screen.

Furthermore, this notification at the bottom appears *on top* of the
panel, and thus obscuring the Workspace Switcher.
I do not know if this is specific to g-p-m, since I've also seen this
kind of notification when getting a warning that a partition is almost
