I doubt this is the same bug. Different hardware and different symptoms. My
freezes happened consistently on the same spot during boot. Changing to
failsafe X fixed this in Ubuntu kernel.
Haven't had time to retest using a later kernel though, seems like there's
always something I can't abort ru

have you tried any newer drivers than 96? I think at least 180 should be
available in karmic.

Also if you get this problem again, instead of reinstalling; press ctrl
+ alt + F1, login, edit xorg.conf "sudo nano -w /etc/X11/xorg.conf", and
change driver from nvidia to nv (ctrl + o to save, ctrl + x to exit).

Gergely Filip: Can you please try again with Lucid Alpha 3, or even better the
latest daily? There are reports in the suse bug about this being fixed in
2.6.32..

Well, package dirs should be equal packagename-version and should not contain
spaces. But I can confirm this bug in Lucid.
Did a test with mediatomb:
Downloaded sources using apt-get source mediatomb
installed build-dep using apt-get build-dep mediatomb
renamed the 'mediatomb-version' folder to 'm
Can confirm the presence of this issue in the latest upstream version
(1.6.2).
