The standard open-source nvidia driver also not working with effects,
nor with Doom3. The proprietary ubuntu's driver works well, except that
in this situation kde4 become whery slow. That's why I use driver from

I solve this problem. I just found and install 180 driver from
repository. Althrough it's strange, that this driver not present in
proprietary drivers list applet, just in repository.

I think that developers just forgot to test "disable" action. In old

I don't see a fix is released... You're telling that it was fixed in lucid,
which is not what I've reported on.
Any chance it will be back-ported to jaunty or i should upgrade all my servers
to the last ubuntu release every time a bug has been fixed?

Then on behalf of Ubuntu users I'd like to ask to run Vim in "user-
friendly" mode by default leaving 'compatible' mode for cases when Vim
executed as 'vi'.
"user-friendly" mode means that I can install Vim package and run Vim
from local terminal as 'vim' in any Ubuntu installation under any user
Reinstalling vim with removing and then `sudo apt-get install vim` did
nothing

Sysadmins are more advanced than users and know how to set compatibility
mode for vim. Why can't sysadmins call `vim` as `vi`? I understand that
this puts `vim` into compatibility mode they need.
If `vim` command is available on user system, it is unlikely that user
will go through installing it

I've repeated in on 10.04:
sudo aptitude remove vim
sudo aptitude install vim
Entered vim on existing text file, pressed 'I', the cursor keys produce
letters. A-up, B-down, D-left, C-right. See comment #11 for my
