Paul, I think that latest update just disable driver from nvidia.com. The standard open-source nvidia driver also not working with effects, nor with Doom3. The proprietary ubuntu's driver works well, except that in this situation kde4 become whery slow. That's why I use driver from nvidia.com I ca
