I'm here again after hours of tries and now I believe that I solved
definitively (at least for me)... I understood the problem!!! According to me
the gspca_vc032x is the problem!! I opened the blacklist file:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and i've added the following line:
blacklist
@AndreK: I know...the gspca is the camera module and blacklisting it means
disabling camera...but is the only solution i've found...
@luvr: try to blacklist you camera module... maybe isn't gspca_vc032x for you!!

Yesterday (28 Jan 2010) I ran apt-get upgrade on a Debian unstable

In the brower I get the web admin interface. But I don't know if it is
the one of the server. I think not, cause "host noname gives me the IP
of the client.
And yes, I set up the queue on the client by using system-config-
printer. I clicked on "New" and followed the steps to set up th

Hi,
Seems like my problem is very similar. My session crashes everytime I go
to fullscreen with Mplayer and VLC since 2 days on my Jaunty. But I
don't have the volume issue.
If I go to full screen it crashes instantly, and if I don't, it crashes
after a few moments.
Should I create another bug?

As seen on various forums, and because my laptop (Acer Aspire-5315) is
on a dual boot with an XP, I chose to flash my BIOS. Went from V.1.33 to
V.1.45 (latest on Acer website). Problem solved.
Acer provides an .exe file in order to flash the BIOS (the one I used),
and I can't find the bios fi

I can confirm this problem for the official Karmic release that shipps
with version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3.
Before the grub menu appears the harddisks are frequently accessed for
about 30secs. After I selected a system to boot, it's the same. Harddisc
access for 30secs.

Hi there I have the same bug from a Wubi 9.04 upgrade to Kubuntu 9.10, I
tried fix 19. I guess i was supposed to type that in to the terminal. So
in the terminal I typed
edit /etc/rc6.d/S40unmountfs
and i get back

I have a nano window open following typing your commands. But it is
blank except for some menu options at the bottom. which appear to be
shift commands for help etc I am a bit stuck and probably out of my
depth. I was able to open S40unmounts in Kate but can not save any edits
because I am not root
Finally cracked it. In terminal wrote sudo kate. Then used Kate to edit
as suggested in 19. And problem solved. Any one any ideas why it is so
hard to get root access, even sudo edit does not give it. I am fairly
new to all this and it seems just a touch too hard to me. Particularly
