This problem seems to have something to do with a malfunction of dbus in
feisty.
Relogging or restarting X will cause this. At the same time dbus applets
like music-applet won't work any more either.
Restarting dbus does not solve this problem, rebooting does.

Just want to add my "confirmed" here: Three users on a nVIDIA-graphics based PC
here with one (me) using compiz and getting a white screen when switching from
a "normal" (Metacity) user to mine (not the other way around, though).
All this is under Gutsy.

Similar problems here in Ubuntu Gutsy (=> Inkscape 0.45): When trying to render
ANY valid latex string, inkscape hangs after pressing the OK button still
showing the input dialog.
No error message in the console but in a file under /tmp
(ink_ext_stderr_), I get this:

1. The policyd timeout is indeed a postfix-policyd-spf-perl issue. Maybe I can
add an option to Mail::SPF that allows a shorter timeout period (than the
Net::DNS default) to be specified.

I use Kubuntu Hardy and have a Plantronics USB headset that has its own
volume and mute controls.
When using its volume controls, they affect the master volume only and
have no effect on the headset volume. I can only alter the headset
volume by going into kmix and selecting

get the stats?). The reason being that the temperature sensors rise by
about 10-15 degrees and my battery life is shot to bits :)

The problem is that the Amarok-icon is not a normal systray
(notification-area) icon anymore, but integrated in the new menu-style
indicator-applet. Is there a way to configure this applet, so it ignores
amarok and you can get the old icon back?

I am observing the same bug with my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop: close the
laptop, reopen it and the screen is blank. Do Ctl-Alt-F1 and then Ctl-
Alt-F7 and I get back to my X-session, with the error message "could not
set the configuration for CRTC 64". Kernel log has:

hibernating or suspending, or even switching from AC to battery, the
brightness keys don't work properly.
Intended effect:
Brightness-Up and -Down keys increment monitor brightness by
